Operation Octagon, LLC announced today that it has acquired Valhalla, LLC under terms that are yet unspecified. Operation Octagon has appointed Scott Howard (from Valhalla) to serve as part of their fighter management team.

Art Sylmar, president of Operation Octagon, believes that the merger of the two organizations ensures an exciting future for Mixed Martial Arts in the Northern Virginia/DC metro area.  “A collaboration between the two promotions made perfect sense.  It’s really the best of both worlds. You’ll get the production and promotion capabilities of Operation Octagon and some of the great fighters and match-ups from the Valhalla Series.  The clear winner will be the fans.”

Operation Octagon is only in its second year of operation but it has already built an impressive fan base.  The first Operation Octagon promotion, held in January of 2008, was literally bursting at the seams which resulted in hundreds of eager MMA fans being turned away at the door.  Now on its 8th event, Operation Octagon has grown from a small MMA startup to a promotion that boasts attendance records of almost 7,000 fans (official attendance at Operation Octagon VIII was reported to be 6856 paid attendees).

Sylmar alluded to the fact that there will be exciting, new developments in the coming months and said that the collaboration of the two MMA brands will give Operation Octagon “unprecedented reach going into 2010.”
